my molasses and henna treatment

November 16, 2009

hey everyone hope i all is well, i have been loving my hair, i have not worn a weave

in over 3 weeks lol it’s been a lot easier, just wash and go or should i say spray and go lol

but i love it.

Last Saturday i did a new henna treatment and i want to share it with ya’ll.

i did a henna and molasses treatment. it was wonderful, what i did was mix my henna together then i added 2 tablespoons of molasses to it, i ended up doing an over night henna treatment which i now do cus it’s easier to let it work it’s magic while i sleep lol.

Anyways when i washed it out, i noticed a big difference my hair was softer it was easier to comb and my curls were looser, it also made my henna darker it took off some of that red tint!

it was nice, i had more of a brown tint to my hair,

after wards i applied my oils and twisted my hair i really enjoyed this treatment

i would recommend trying it and seeing how you like it.

my recipe

about 1 cup of henna

2 tbs of olive oil

2 tbs of coconut oil

1 tbs of acv

1 tbs spoon of aloe vera juice

2 tbs of molasses

about 2 cups of warm water…

i applied it in sections, then i applied a shower cap and a old scarf, then i went to sleep on a old pillow case=) my hair turn out really soft.

Benefits:

Molasses – contains natural sulfur/sulphur which is a mild natural fungicide, that rehydrates & detoxifies cell fibers by allowing water & nutrients into the cells & toxins to flow out. Sulphur is one of the key building blocks for healthy hair growth.

molasses is a great treatment for damaged hair.

it is said to strengthen and stop hair loss, it can also help to regrow hair.

With continuous use Black Strap Molasses is said to darken gray hairs over a period of time.

use can also use molasses As a pre poo use 1/2 cup of pure Black Strap Molasses to damp hair and let sit for 30 minutes… ( You could leave it on over night if you like) Rinse and shampoo and condition as usual.

you will see a big difference in your hair… real talk=0)

As a conditioner:1/2 cup molasses with 1/2 cup Jamaican black castor oil or regular castor oil.

your hair will be super soft and super shiny, to me home made products are the best way to go the only thing i now buy from store are cheapie conditioners, and herbal essence conditioners…most of my hair products are things that i make from my kitchen,

it’s easier because i know what’s in it, and they make my hair grow fast so i have no complaints=)

what is a hot oil treatment ?

A hot oil treatment is the use of natural oils to moisturize and prevent damage in all types of hair. This type of treatment is especially necessary for African American hair.

It replenishes proteins and minerals loss due to the use of heated tools, relaxing, coloring or other chemical processes.
You can use any of your favorite oils, you can use 1 oil or you can mix many depending on what your hair needs. Olive oil is a very popular oil for doing a hot oil treatment, because you can find it anywhere and it is great for your hair.

Coconut oil is another great choice coconut has so many benefits plus it helps to promote hair growth!

Both of these oil will add strength and shine to your hair.

a few different oils

Jojoba oil can also be used in the mixture.

castor oil helps hair with thickening.

grape seed, shea and avocado oil, help to re-hydrate.

Adding tea tree, peppermint or rosemary will help to stimulate your scalp,
and put a end to a itchy scalp!

You can mix any or all of these oils together in small amounts, and place them in an applicator bottle.

application

Apply the hot oil directly to your scalp using the tip of the applicator bottle.

Massage the oil on to your scalp, then apply the oil to the entire hair shaft.
Be sure the oil is evenly distributed and an ample amount is applied to the ends.

this will help to seal and protect your ends from splits and breakage.

Place a shower cap on your head and sit under a hooded dryer for 15-20 minutes.
If you do not have a hooded dryer you can moisten a towel and warm it in the microwave.

what I do is heat the oil in the microwave, I heat it for 15-25 seconds, make sure to always test the heat of the oil on your wrist before applying it on to your scalp.

make sure it’s not too hot, then apply it to your hair and scalp leave it on,
for minimum of 15 minutes.
I usually keep mine on for an hour because I have no life lol .

Once your time is up make sure to wash your hair, remove the oil by washing it out
with warm water and shampoo.

I wash it out by doing a light shampoo or a cowash, i do this because i do not
want to re-strip my hair of all of the oil and moisture that i just added to it.

So try it out some time ladies, i guarantee your hair will feel a lot better this way
then with the store brought oils.
