CHRISTIANE F. ou Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Zoo

November 23, 2009

David Bowie, pink hair dye and silver metallic jackets are just some of the reasons why should watch this film. It tells the true story of Vera Christiane Felscherinow, who by the age of fourteen was a heroin addicted prostitute. If that isn’t enough to reel you in I don’t know what is.

CHINESISCHES ROULETTE

October 14, 2009
Extravagant, vulgar, decadent, spare, haunting, revolting … director Rainer Werner Fassbinder’s work has induced polar reactions in his viewers but I believe it is safe to say that every person that sits down to watch his work leaves mesmerized. Watching his films is … an experience, to say the least. Like any good fashion blogger, I have to be the one who finds sly fashion nuances in his works, none more so than in Chinese Roulette. Chinese Roulette is a story of games, both literal and figurative, but it is also a source of sartorial inspiration. Anna Karina’s brilliant headscarves and sparkle dresses are the wardrobe of a bohemian lost at Studio 54, and represent a flighty decadence. At her parallel is the prim and proper wardrobe of Angela … just don’t let those bows and ringlets fool you ….
