The Body Has It

January 16, 2010

Dressed for Battle is a prime example of less is more. Kendra Spear’s latest editorial in Vogue Nippon has the requisite strenght that has been lacking in editorials as of late. It is black and white and shot against a simple background yet it provides a bigger impact than most larger scale productions.

Also, on a side note – I’m incredibly flattered and humbled that I am featured on British Vogue’s favourite fashion blogs. It is still so weird to receive a nice comment on this blog but this is such a great encouragement!

HORS PISTE

I think it can be safely agreed upon that any editorial with Iselein Steiro in Vogue Paris has come into cult affection by now. And none more so than this editorial from the November 2006 issue of VP – quite fitting for the times.

LIKE JEAN SEBERG

November 25, 2009

As of late, I have found myself spending too much time revisiting old nineties editorials. I’ve staved off saving billions of images for fear that my computer will crash (it’s happened before … twice). But when there is a collision of French cinema and all American good looks, then this editorial must be posted.

I can’t believe I ever had doubts about Eniko Mihalik’s beauty. Seeing this editorial in the latest issue of The Room has made me a convert …

FINDING NIRVANA

October 11, 2009
My loyalty to Teen Vogue has waned over the years. You see, once you pass a certain age, buying any magazine with Miley Cyrus on the cover seems a bit odd. In fact buying a magazine with Miley Cyrus on the cover is odd at any age. But subtle digs aside, I need to have the October issue of Teen Vogue. Not just because models are gracing the cover, which happens once every three blue moons, but because of this editorial. With fashion taking a rock and roll turn, it’s only fitting that a tribute to Nirvana would be in order. And this time it is done brilliantly by the powers that be at Teen Vogue. I love the mix of knits and plaids, particularly the red, blue and white floor length skirt. Finding Nirvana is the quintessential Teen Vogue editorial – romantic, charming and with a strong element of escapism at play.
